Going For What You Really Want. . .
    What Will It Take?
    (Part 1 of 2)

By Dr. Christina Winsey-Rudd, The “I Can” Doctor

Whenever you have a desire to be, do and have more it presents you with challenges of faith and trust to “step out” in ways that seem risky. Are you, like most humans, someone who really likes the known, tried and true and familiar?

I once heard it said (or read it somewhere) that if there are two options you can take, the one with greater risk is usually the one with the bigger payoff – the one most aligned with your highest good.It would seem that the “Higher Power” in the Universe puts desires and opportunities into your heart and path which, if taken, require stepping out in faith, and often just when you think things are settling down to be secure and restful. But we weren’t meant to rest on our laurels for long. Life is for living and growing and expanding into the abundant selves we truly are. It is your level of commitment to taking action on inspiration that makes the difference.

There is a wonderful quote: “Ships in harbor are safe but that isn’t what ships were made for.” We humans are like ships. We’re meant to be sailing seas finding new lands, even through storms and rough waters. Are you an "all or nothing" thinker? Do you believe that if you follow your heart that everything you’ve known – your “security” – will fall away? It is possible to compromise and not put so much at risk when you pursue your dreams. When you can find ways to lessen the risk you may find yourself much more willing to take the first steps towards your goal(s).

It is actually quite detrimental to your inner being to stay in a place where what you are doing is not in harmony with what your heart deeply desires. It doesn’t always mean, however, that you quit the job that is supplying the funds which allows you to do more of what your heart desires – even if you are doing it “on the side” of your “real job”.

Then again, sometimes it does mean a “leap of faith” to quit a job or business and change course (strategically, of course). Each situation is different.

In Part II we’ll discuss some specific strategies you can follow to assist you in not just “going for it,” but actually getting “it”! We’ll go into a big more depth on the Law of Attraction – becoming a magnet for the good you “seek.”
