It’s Not What You Do, It’s How You Do It!

    By Robyn Dear

The world is full of movers and shakers, trouble is, their intentions are not always entirely pure. What they achieve may be exceptional but do they leave a path of ruin in their wake? The measure of a truly remarkable person is in their capacity to achieve their goals while maintaining a high level of respect from all concerned parties. Simply put, it’s not what you do, it’s how you do it: meaning in essence, the outcome is not the only criteria to be assessed when weighing up the ultimate results.

So how can you achieve this goal? What is the secret to maintaining the balance required for such an outcome? Use these simple guidelines and you will find success.

    1. Be mindful of your objective at all times.

    2. Your objective is to reach your goal while maintaining a balanced outlook, respecting others at all times and remaining flexible and open to alternative routes.

    3. Listen to input from all parties. Give value to all ideas. Foster an encouraging attitude at every level.

    4. Give recognition to those who deserve it. A humble thank you can mean a great deal.

    5. Do not allocate blame, ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY!

    6. If things are going wrong, ask, “Why has this been created for me?”

    7. If things are running smoothly appreciate the acknowledgement that you are on the right track.

    8. Appreciate that both vision and details are important to any project. Most people only specialize in one of these fields. Ensure you have the right person for the right job.

    9. Do not be attached to the outcome. Let go and trust that the results will flow in the right direction- not necessarily the one of your choosing.

    10. Understand that people who are given value will achieve above and beyond your requirements by choice.

When you approach things in the appropriate manner, what you can achieve with a team of people is astounding.

No matter what you do in life, there is always a team of people helping you to achieve your goal. For me to type this I have relied on the people who created the technology of this computer and the software that was developed to make word processing easy. To bring these words to you on paper I have relied on a myriad of people to supply the materials necessary to print it etc.... as you can see, we are never alone in any achievement, give thanks to the universe for offering you so much opportunity and you will find a richer path to follow. How lucky we are to have so much to choose from. Enjoy your selection.
